Eating in Iceland

Eating in Iceland doesn’t mean only fish, lamb, potatoes, and frozen vegetables. Eating in Iceland was once perhaps similar to this paltry example, but today Iceland is at the forefront of modern cuisine.
Some traditional Icelandic delights include hangikjot, or smoked lamb for sandwiches; skyr, a rich yogurt-like food; and Icelandic puffin or hardfiskur, which are dried fish strips.
Don’t forget the Icelandic chocolate, licorice, and snudur, frosting-covered pastries.
If you’re around for the holidays in Iceland, you’ll be sure to experience jolaol, an orange soda mixed with malt, and laufabraud, traditionally fried flat bread.
When you’re in the city, you can’t miss the hot dog with chilly and cheese, or the soft serve ice cream!
